A Walk Around the Bases + A Little More - Sept 17
September 17th, 2008 Posted in A Walk Around the Bases, Clayton RichardFirst linkage goes to Cheat who perfectly sums up yesterday’s game [South Side Sox]
The Giambi AB vs Gavin was unreal. I have never had such constantly changing emotions in a single AB. It started with me thinking Giambi was going to get a hit, then changed to me thinking he was going to walk, this was followed by uncertainty of whether the ball he hits will drop for a hit or be an out, and finally over the last two pitches, I was certain that Floyd was going to strike out the Great Giambino.
Some numbers to ponder [The 35th Street Review]

It was announced, after last night’s game that Clayton Richard will be pitching for the Sox tonight. This is not quite a waving of the white flag here, folks. The fact of the matter the choices for tonight’s game were Lance Broadway or Clayton Richard, neither of which are that inspiring of picks, but Richard at least has the lefty factor going for him. The Yankees are under .500 (21-22) against lefties due greatly in part to the presence of Damon, Abreu, Giambi, and Cano who all are lefties. Also, Broadway is too valuable in relief…not really, at all, sorry, that’s a joke. If Clayton is struggling though, we may see Broadway come in to try and mop up; he may be used as a caddy for Richard. Hopefully, he won’t be needed, because if the Sox ever needed a long, strong start from Richard it’s now as the bullpen struggles and the other starters are looking to pitch on short rest.

I will be back to regular writing beginning on the 20th (or 21st, depending on when I get my Internet Access up and running). I will post Walks Around the Bases, but there probably won’t be any heavy writing from me until then. I appreciate your patience, as this has been an unusualy confluence of events (my 21st birthday followed closely by me having to pack up and move back out to school).

The big 2-1 and then heading back to school. That’s a good week if I’ve ever heard of one.

If you’re 21st birthday was anything like mine this summer, you woke up with puke on your bed and your father not speaking to you for two days. Good times.
